DisciplinesZii is a curious boy, very intelligent and fast learner. I've had him since he was 4 months old and hoped to eventually put him in harness. He's now 4.5 years old and is not going to be a harness pony. He's been lunged with roller and cavesson, worn a bitless bridle as well as a bit, lunged with a bareback saddle, but he won't accept a crupper. He's going to be a forward pony that's better suited to a fit and active young rider than an older person. He'd be great as a sporting pony, hunter, etc, because he likes to run and enjoys jumping over things for fun when out in the main paddock. Zii treats everyone as they treat him, if he finds you rude or mean, he will be uncoopertive and ill mannered. If the mares are pinning their ears and kicking at him, he will do the same back (he does an excellent impersonation of a mare face). But if you treat him with patience and kindness, he will love you in return and be very willing. He loves 1 on 1 work in the round yard, because he enjoys being the centre of attention and he will be very cooperative so that he gets as much time as he can in there. He's a great nanny to the foals when we have any around, he's full of energy for their games, he teaches them about herd dynamics and pecking order, but is also very patient and tolerant with them. Zii is used to farm life and all the other animals and noises that are pretty normal for a farm. He's also used to nearby traffic, including trucks and B-doubles because he's often been yarded at the front of the property next to the road. Zii isn't mouthed or broken in, I would generally send off for that to be done professionally, but since he isn't going to suit me I haven't spent the money on that. He has had a lot of ground work and foundation though, so he should be very easy to start. He's up to date with everything, dentist is next due in September, farrier is done every 6 weeks or so, tetanus/strangles was done in November and woming with Equest + Tape was done a few weeks ago. I haven't done a lot of work with him in the last 6 months because I've been busy with yearlings and other things, but he's still handled a little every day. Selling through no fault of his own, I just don't have a use for him and hay is getting too difficult to find and too expensive to be keeping extra horses. He needs to be doing a job now and is bored with the older pony and moody mares. His price is negotiable, but only to the best of homes.
