Miss Martha Arthur (Martha)

Martha is a rising 6yo 16.2hh Thoroughbred mare.

Unraced (trialed and was too slow), she came to me as a 3yo.

She has been a lovely mare to produce and is one of my favorite rides. Currently competing 80cm Eventing (and always bringing home a ribbon unless the rider misses fences ), she is easy and uncomplicated in all 3 phases.

Well educated on the flat, with Leg yield, Shoulder in, travers, counter canter well established. Schooling half pass and changes. Easy, soft and straight forward to ride, responsive to aids. With a lovely ground covering trot and uphill canter, she is consistent and easy.

Great to hack out alone or in company. She loves to get out in the bush and go for a canter, but will happily walk and trot on a long rein in a group also. no spook, shy or funny business. A great ride to enjoy getting out of the arena on and clear your head!

Easy to jump, bold and brave, while still being careful. Soft and easy to ride- in a snaffle, no rings or drop noseband. Doesn't pull, just canters along at the same pace on Cross country. Jumps from anywhere, and happy to cope with a miss when the rider gets it wrong. Schooling 90-1m at home.

On the ground Martha is the easiest horse ever. Not marey, matey or clingy. No separation anxiety. Happy to be alone, or babysit a young one if needed. Good to catch, shoe, float, truck, clip, plait etc etc. Easy to handle by a non horses person.

Martha does best in consistent work 5-6 days a week. She can be cold backed. She has never done anything under saddle other than put her back up, but if she has had more than 2 days off, I lunge her before I get on if I am riding her on the flat (mainly because I am a wuss), however if I am trotting down the road I just get on and go.

This is a very hard sale, of one of my much loved young horses, but due to a very large hay bill, I am facing some hard choices. Please don't waste my time.

In full work, up to date with everything and ready to go on with. I would love to see her with a competent Junior to take further.
