Please note - King is owned by Performance Horse Sales
Introduction: King is a handsome 4 year old, 16.2hh thoroughbred eligible for a TSHA licence and to compete at Equimillions. King retired sound from racing last October and has been spelled and then restarted by a 17 year old under professional guidance. King presents an opportunity for a capable and confident rider looking for an inexpensive and unspoilt young horse to bring on.
Education, skills and experience: King has been out to lessons and clinics and takes everything in his stride. He has jumped up to 45cm and not overfaced due to his age. King looks to have the talent to excel in showjumping or eventing. He works softly and is on the way to working in a consistent frame. King enjoys a variety of work.
General demeanor under saddle: King is willing and responsive under saddle. He has a snaffle mouth and is light in the bridle. King is reliable and fun to ride.
Current workload/ fitness: King is currently in work.
Handling: King is easy to handle - to catch, pick out feet, wash, saddle and load.
King has been tricky with his back feet for our farrier, pulled back from truck and not being very cooperative, hence his price. We suspect this is because his mates have gone back to his paddock and he is young and green.
In saying this, he is 100% happy to have his feet picked out and he is not at all matey to ride.
Behaviour: King is smoochy and kind, he loves people and being patted and fussed over. He has come back in from his last spell, even quieter than before, with zero lookiness and no spook. He has absolutely no dirt - no shy, rear, buck, bolt etc.
Feeding and management: King is currently fed hay, 2kg of oats and chaff. He is paddocked with ad lib hay due to the dry conditions. He has a beautiful soft, fine coat through winter. King has great feet and is sound without shoes.
Medical history: King has no medical issues or injuries.
Rider Suitability: King would suit a capable and confident rider due to age.
Reason for sale: King is very reluctantly for sale due to his rider entering year 12 and having another three horses in work. He will only be sold to a fabulous and appropriate home where we can keep in touch with his buyers.
