RegistrationsIntroduction: Joey is a fabulous 9 year old, 15.2hh unraced TB mare. Joey represents the best of her breed - she is responsive and intelligent; athletic, agile and hardworking; she is suitable for various disciplines.
Education, skills and experience: Joey was professionally broken in before spelling for a number of years, with the view to breed from her but she was never served. She was then restarted in October 2023 by her current owner.
Joey has a very sweet temperament. She is super quick to learn and just wants to please. Joey really tries her heart out.
Joey has lovely floating paces. On the flat, she is developing a consistent and confident contact and cadence. Joey continues to improve, every day, as she gains further strength and experience.
Joey attended her first ODE at Tamborine QI3DE in September 2024 and was a superstar! No jumping penalties cross country with only 1.2 for time. Joey was clear showjumping to finish with an incredible 3rd place!
Joey is entered for her first EVA80 start on June 7th-8th, where she will compete in the at Warwick.
Joey is forward moving and careful over jumps. She is a confident, brave and honest ride when supported by a capable rider. Joey is schooling at 1m and shows scope to progress.
General demeanor under saddle: Joey is described as willing, responsive and athletic. She is soft and 'light' in the bridle and is always ridden in a snaffle.
Behaviour: Joey is extremely affectionate and is an absolute pleasure to have around. She is the first to meet you at the gate, especially when the float comes out.
Joey has a great work ethic and manners. At times, Joey can be tense and looky, due to her level of experience, but there is absolutely no dirt in her and she is becoming more and more confident every ride.
Current workload/ fitness: Joey is currently in work - being ridden 3 days a week - but doesn’t need regular riding to be safe.
Handling: Joey is safe and easy to handle - to catch, shoe, wash, saddle and load. She self loads or loads into float/ truck very easily, stands quietly when traveling, and unloads calmly.
Feeding and management: Joey is currently lucerne chaff, Mitavite Extra Cool and lucerne hay.
Medical history: Joey does not have any medical issues that affect performance.
Rider Suitability: Joey would be suitable for a capable and confident junior or smaller adult rider. She is tolerant of novice riders as long as the rider is balanced, confident and not tense.
Reason for sale: Joey is very reluctantly for sale because her owner is downsizing and has too many young horses to ride.
Joey’s owner says: Joey is a pleasure to own and would be suitable as a performance allrounder to compete in ARC, PC, dressage, eventing or showjumping. She needs to find ‘her person’ who enjoys a willing, athletic horse.
